MEMORIAL DAY PARADE 5/26/25
9:30am– Park/Drop-Off/Walk to IJMS
9:45am-Meet at Richard Ira Jones Middle School-Assemble and Warm up
10:30am-Block up and March to Settler’s Park in Parade
11:00am-Ceremony Begins-Perform America the Beautiful towards the end
12:00pm-Dismissal (Might be closer to 11:45am)
PERFORMANCE WEAR: Shirt: Member shirt; Shorts: Solid black, khaki, or blue jean shorts. Must be plain with no patterns, logos, or other colors. Shoes: Gym shoes that are comfortable and supportive for marching. Additional Notes: Shirts must be tucked into shorts for uniformity. Sunglasses are allowed, but no hats.
- Take your instrument home on Thursday after rehearsal. All students will take their instrument with them. This includes big instruments and percussion.
- PARKING will be tricky. You will not be able to park at Ira Jones. You will have to find some place around that area, or by Settler’s Park and walk to Ira Jones.
- If you are being dropped off, make the drop off point by the Avery YMCA. Pickup at Settler’s Park.
- There will be NO storage for cases and belongings. Leave these things in the car or at home.
- Wear sunscreen! We will have water provided.
- In case of bad weather, information will be sent out on REMIND
FAMILY AND FRIENDS – Please attend the event. Bring a lawn chair and set it up at Settler’s Park. Enjoy performances from Central and East, as well.

PIANO and GUITAR PLAYERS NEEDED
We’re currently looking for experienced piano and guitar players to become part of our award-winning marching band! Please pass the information if you know someone that may be interested. MARCHING BAND REHEARSALS
Marching Band is getting started as we prepare for the summer. The first few rehearsals are for ALL (8th-11th grade) Guard and Percussion members & current 9th-11th Grade Winds.
Rehearsal on May 22nd. Percussion also rehearses on the 20th.
Current 8th grade wind players will join us for the first time on Thursday, May 29th.
Mini-Camp & Summer Rehearsals Begin on June 3rd with EVERYONE involved.
MARCHING BAND REHEARSAL CHECKLIST
Things to bring for your SUCCESS:
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:
- Your instrument/equipment in working condition w/ all necessary accessories
- Reeds/Ligatures
- Neckstraps
- Valve Oil
- Other items your instrument may require
- Half gallon or gallon insulated water jug w/ cold water – no sharing
- Label w/ your name to avoid losing
- Insect repellent for evenings
- Sunglasses for the low evening sun
- Appropriate attire for the weather – t-shirt, sweatshirt for cool evenings
- Athletic shorts – the lighter the better
- Socks and solid tie shoes, firmly tied onto your feet. No sandals or slip-on’s. Best shoes are running shoes or something with a flexible sole that will help you march correctly. Do not wear Crocs, sandals, skateboarding shoes, Converse, dress shoes, or other similar footwear.
- Pencil with eraser.
- 1-inch binder and sheet protectors for music – at least 10 protectors
Absences: Students are now expected to be at all rehearsals. If a student is missing a full band rehearsal or performance for an excused absence, parents/guardians should complete the Absence Report Form at this link. http://www.pnhsbands.com/absence-request-form/
Again, this must be completed by a parent or guardian! Please know, if a student is missing rehearsals, they will likely need to spend extra time catching up on material.
BOOSTER MEETING
Our June parent booster meeting will be on Wednesday, June 11th, at 7:00pm in the PNHS Band Room. All are welcome to attend! Please enter through DOOR P.
PLAINFIELD FEST – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We have the opportunity to earn $3000 for our PNHS Band Booster program by supplying volunteers for Plainfield Fest, June 27th-29th.
“We are aiming for 20 volunteers. Students can volunteer for Carnival Entry Gate or Bounce House Attendant. Adults can volunteer for any position. Spots will fill quickly by community members outside our organization, so please sign up today to put us in the best position to earn that $3000!
